how to build an end fed halfwave Antenna and actually got to build one and take it home.\u00a0 For those that were not able to do so, this page is for you.\u00a0 Building antennas is a fun learning experience for any ham operator and one that will serve you well for many years.\u00a0 Knowing how to build an antenna also saves you a bit of money from buying the commercial ones online that can range from $40 up to $180.<\/p><p>It is just an overall good skill to have under your belt.<\/p><p>As promised in the class, I am making the build details available to you if you so choose to build that if you are going to 3D print this, that you use\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.microcenter.com\/product\/623250\/inland-175mm-orange-tough-pla-3d-printer-filament-1kg-spool-(22-lbs)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>Tough PLA<\/b><\/a>.\u00a0 It is rigid and heat resistant.\u00a0 That last thing you want is for the SO-239 to fall off your antenna while operating.\u00a0 I used 100% infill on my print and it took my\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.microcenter.com\/product\/639679\/creality-cr-10-smart-3d-printer?ob=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>Creality CR10-S<\/b><\/a>\u00a0about 7 hours to print the winder.\u00a0 No adjustments need to be made and you can print it as it.\u00a0 However, if you wish to experiment and are good with 3D software like\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tinkercad.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>Tinkercad<\/b><\/a>, feel free to modify it to your loose end wire to the smaller ring terminal<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Crimp and solder<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>PART II<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Measure out 8 inches of magnet wire and fold over<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Measure up 2.5 inches of the loose end wire and bend 90 degrees (see video), carefully hold with pliers and twist the loop<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Snip off loop after twist is complete<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Wind Toroid keeping your windings <u>tight to the toroid<\/u> and NOT overlapping or kinking up the mag wire(see diagram)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>PART III<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Install SO-239 to wire winder paying attention to direction of ground tab<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Mount Toroid with zip ties<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Measure toroid wires to each of the SO-239 terminals, make your cuts<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Scrape off magnet wire coating on all three wires (TX, GND &amp; ANT)<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Snip capacitor and prepare for solder<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Solder toroid twisted wires and capacitor to ground ring<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Single wire and capacitor go to center connector on SO-239<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Hot Glue SO-239 connections and wire (Optional)<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Attach Antenna wire to antenna frame winder (See Video for Sequence)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><strong style=\"color: var(
